Planning a Dubai-to-Abu Dhabi rental-car journey

Check route permission, mileage and return arrangements before leaving Dubai.

Confirm the trip is permitted

Tell the rental team you plan to drive to Abu Dhabi and obtain confirmation of geographical use and insurance territory. Separate that permission from any delivery or collection request outside Dubai.

    Build a realistic distance plan

Count the outward drive, local journeys, diversions and return in your mileage estimate. Compare the total with your booked allowance and ask about additional distance. Do not assume the daily allowance increases when leaving Dubai.

      Check destination charges and access

Parking, toll systems, venue access and hotel arrangements may differ from your Dubai stay. Use current official information and ask how any vehicle charges will be recorded and settled.

        Agree the return

If you need to leave the car in Abu Dhabi, request explicit approval and a separate quote. Otherwise plan the return to the agreed Dubai location, including time for replenishment and inspection.

          Your planning checklist

          • Written route and cover confirmation
          • Full-trip mileage estimate
          • Destination parking and toll checks
          • Agreed Dubai or separate return

          Frequently asked questions

Does inter-emirate driving include one-way collection?

No. Driving permission and collection in another emirate are separate arrangements.

Is the same daily mileage allowance still relevant?

Yes. Use your agreed allowance unless the company confirms a different package.
