Electric and hybrid car rental: charging and return planning

Understand the booked vehicle’s powertrain, charging access and return requirements.

Confirm the exact powertrain

Electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid cars have different operating needs. Verify the actual vehicle, connectors, required fuel where applicable and the instructions supplied at handover. Do not rely on a model name or generic listing alone.

    Check charging around your itinerary

Ask your hotel about guest charging and check a current charging map. Connector compatibility, access, payment method and charger availability matter as much as the location. Allow time for charging rather than planning around a best-case specification.

      Use the current operator instructions

DEWA provides an EV charging guest option for users without a registered Green Charger account. Follow the operator’s current instructions and prices; other networks and private hotel chargers may have different arrangements. Keep payment confirmations and ask who bears charging or idle fees.

        Agree the return level

Record the charge or fuel level at handover and confirm the required return level, cable inventory and any replenishment fees. Ask how roadside support works for the vehicle before departing on a longer route.

          Your planning checklist

          • Confirmed powertrain and connector
          • Hotel and public charging access
          • Payment and idle-fee rules
          • Return level and cable check
